Hello from your PTA President

Hello to all our new and returning Hearst Monarchs — welcome to the 2026–2027  school year!  

I can't wait for the fun and productive year ahead with this wonderful community. My  name is Kathleen Balizan, and I'm excited to be your PTA President for the next two  years. I've spent the last two on the PTA board as VP of Fun Events, and I'm thrilled to  continue on in this new role. My husband, Arthur, and I have three proud Monarchs:  Charles in 5th grade, Eve in 3rd and Max in 1st. We love to camp, travel, tackle house  projects and take care of our animals.  

So what is the PTA? We are a group of volunteer parents who meet, fundraise and  plan free events for all Hearst students. Our mission is simple: to positively impact the  lives of all children and families. The money we raise supports a variety of needs across  the school including the library, garden, PE, science, assemblies, teacher and staff  hospitality and every classroom. We also fund the events we love throughout the year,  like the International Fair, Trunk or Treat, and Science Festival. All of it happens thanks  to the Hearst community's generous donations of time and money. It’s a big part of  what makes our school so special.  

Please consider getting involved. Whether you have an hour or an afternoon, we'd  love to have you! We are always looking for fresh input and ideas. Together we are  stronger — join our Hearst PTA and show your support for a stronger education for all  our students.
